Story: A Christmas Carol
Written By: Steven Moffat
Length: 60 Minutes
Year: 2010
At this point, I'd say this is the best Christmas special the series has had. Nothing against Davies' specials (because I quite honestly loved most of them), this one truly did feel like a Christmas story within the Who universe. It is also a smaller and more intimate tale, and definitely the most original spin on Dickens' story since "Scrooged".
Essentially a ship is crashing, and in order to save it the Doctor must changed an old miser from a miserable old bastard into a nice enough guy to just let them land. It has a FANTASTIC performance from Michael Gambon. I am also a big fan of the flying fish, especially the shark.
It is a really well written episode, definitely good to watch around the holiday season (unlike Davies' specials which tended to get bigger and better, this one is really more about the Christmas spirit), and I think the visuals are tremendous. All in all strong episode.
