The Fish Doctor

Story: The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot
Written By: Peter Davison
Length: 30 Minutes
Year: 2013

Christmas 2012, Peter Davison and his children watch "The Snowmen" and then his kids ask him about Doctor Who turning 50, and if he will be in the special...which gets him thinking.  We then see that Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker are thinking the same thing, all of them calling and waiting by the phone for Steven Moffat or the BBC to tell them they have a part in the big special, all to no avail!
It is a hilarious short film written and directed by the Fifth Doctor himself, Peter Davison.  Steven Moffat appears as a villain essentially, and we get cameos from Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, and David Tennant (as well as Davison's daughter and Tennant's wife Georgia Moffett).  It's good fun had by all, and it's hilarious.  Look it would've been difficult to put these actors in the special, it's amazing they even had Baker appear as that enigmatic Curator (though as the oldest living and longest serving Doctor I guess it makes sense that he won the part), but if you can't get all the actors in the special...having this bit of fun was great.

I loved it all, pure funny for the Who fans.  Seeing Paul McGann on the phone with his agent pretending to not care but clearly caring about being in the special was hilarious, and the fact that he doesn't show up to the actual protest was great considering he got his own 7-minute special.  Having Sean Pertwee appear in his father's place (briefly at the start) was great.  Having the 80s Doctors be a little unsure about calling Tom Baker was hilarious, and the edited in scene from Shada/The Five Doctors was especially hilarious. Hearing McCoy constantly go on about how he is in The Hobbit was great, and Colin Baker is just a genuinely funny man through and through.  Davison brought this all together, and I'm glad he did.  It was a bit of fun for the fans, icing on the cake of our Doctor Who birthday.

This was all in good fun, maybe these classic Doctors were a tiny bit jaded about not getting to be in the special, but seeing as Moffat appears as himself and provided the crew for the thing...it's hard to get hung up on any negativity here.

Highly recommended to classic Who fans.
