"The Lodger" is a step up from the string of rather average to bad episodes we had this season. The episode is funny and charming, while has a hint of mystery and creepy, with a resolution that doesn't disappoint.
I liked the two one off characters of Sophie and Craig, and thought the Doctor's attempts at being a normal guy going bad to comical effect was well executed. I think the football game was well timed with FIFA, I do wonder how it will work upon repeat viewings, though I doubt it will be that much less enjoyable.
In the end, it was a decent episode, a breath of fresh air from the dull Silurian Two-Parter and rather weak Van Gogh story that preceded it. The final moments of Amy puzzled by Rory's ring, and the crack in Craig's apartment expanding was an excellent finish...and sets up next week's finale(part one) very well.
