Story: Time Heist
Written By: Stephen Thompson & Steven Moffat
Length: 45 Minutes
Year: 2014
The Doctor answers the TARDIS phone and he and Clara suddenly find themselves light-years away from Earth with a memory worm wiping their memories. They find that they have agreed to rob the most secure bank in the Universe for a mysterious figure known as the architect...and they are already there. The episode is a neat bank heist movie with a sci-fi Doctor Who twist...it has some issues, but it is a mostly enjoyable episode with some neat guest characters, a good villain, and a cool monster.
If I had to cite issues, it was that some of the plot twists and developments I kind of saw coming. If you haven't seen the episode than spoilers be ahead: I pretty much figured out that the heist wasn't actually going to be a bank robbery, but that they were meant to rescue the monster. IT seemed clear that this monster was a prisoner from his attire. I also had an inkling that the Doctor was going to be the Architect. But even though these big twists and reveals didn't seem too surprising to me, at least they didn't feel out of place. They didn't feel like twists just for twist's sake.
The episode is an enjoyable 45 minutes, not without it's problems and not something I would rank among the best of Who...but I enjoyed it for the most part.
