Lankin

Story: Class: Nightvisiting
Written By: Patrick Ness
Length: 45 Minutes
Year: 2016

If "Class" uses it's monsters to tell character driven stories in a creative fantasy way?  I am in.  Much like the horror of the previous episode was used to focus in on Ram's struggles in the aftermath of the opening episode...this one uses these creatures (The Lankin) who use vines from the rift to create versions of lost loved ones in order to snatch people into their domain (whatever that may actually be).  So this one focuses in on Tanya and her deceased father, as well as Miss Quill and he dead sister.  Ram also briefly sees Rachel as well...but the episode isn't really about that.
I liked this one, of the first three episodes, this has so far been the strongest in terms of execution.  I am still not sold on Quill...because unlike Tanya who seemed to get some kind of character growth and development, Quill didn't really learn much and we certainly didn't get any more layers to her character. She is a badass who doesn't take crap. We get it!

I must say I was also impressed by the fact that just like the previous episode didn't shy away from gore, this episode didn't shy away from sex.  There is actually some tasteful but somewhat explicit (not necessarily in nudity but just in obvious action) sex scenes between Charlie and Matteusz, and it more mature than almost all of the sex that was presented in Torchwood's first two seasons.

Another solid episode, this time I might go so far and say this was a really good episode, and "Class" has won me over.  I don't love it as much as the parent series (not even close really), but it is a nice time filler while that show is off the air until 2017.
