Season 13 is quite the worthy follow up to Tom Bakers premier season. Of all the stories in this fantastic season, only Planet of Evil could be said to be the weak link, and even it has its moments and is not entirely without merit.
The season begins and ends with two of the best stories ever in who, Terror of the Zygons and the Seeds of Doom. Both stories are timeless and wonderful, and create villains that are completely memorable, without having been brought out every other season like the Daleks or the Cybermen. In the middle of the season we get classics like The Pyramid of Mars, The Android invasion, and The Brain of Morbius...leaving very little dead weight holding the season down.
I claimed at the end of my season 12 recap that Tom Baker never lived up to the standard he created in that first season. Having re-watched many of Season 13 for these reviews, I retract that statement completely. Season 12 still seems better, despite starting off weak with Robot, but Season 13 is really really strong. Now I'm excited to continue with Tom!
NEXT TIME: Secret Of The Labyrinth
