Story: K-9: The Bounty Hunter
Written By: Ian McFadyen
Length: 30 Minutes
Year: 2010
Gryffen is attempting to help K-9 recover his lost memories, but getting nowhere, Starkey takes the robot dog out for a walk. While out a Ferris Wheel begins to move way to fast. According to Drake (a menacing figure from the department played by a 14 year old) it’s a Speed situation, if it slows down, it will explode. K-9 and Starkey sneak past the CCPC (robot police) and find the bomb. K-9 discovers the bomb is a fake. So he slows the Ferris Wheel down for safety and they seemingly save the day.
Meanwhile the Space Time Manipulator that Gryffen has yet to disassemble lets another alien being through. This time it is a Bounty Hunter searching for a murderer: K-9. The kids hide K-9 in a sewer, eventually Drake and the Bounty Hunter team up to find the dog. K-9 recovers more details from his fuzzy memory and believes he did the deed, turns out he didn’t but witnessed the bounty hunter doing it. Luckily before he can get away with the dog, Jorjie is able to stop him with a cup of tea. You know I am not sure I have seen Gryffen not holding a cup of tea. These Australians really nail the pretending to be British thing.
It’s fine. Still a sloppy cheap show, but I suppose the previous episodes have been worse. I don’t understand Jorjie’s mom though. She is presented at first like a villain. But now she is buddies with Gryffen and she is the loving mom of one of the show’s leads. She is both a major component of the evil government that is jailing aliens without due process and a friend to our ragtag heroes. In the end though she decides that her official alien status for K-9 is that he should be put under the charge of Gryffen, and his band of children will be the K-9 Unit.
Whatever any of that means.
