Gryffen Leaves the Mansion

Story: K-9: The Korven

What exactly is the relationship between Professor Gryffen and Darius? This kid is very protective of the Professor, he makes him (or buys him) dinner, they eat dinner together by firelight. I think they are going for Gryffen being his sort of father figure, but so many scenes are off putting and make me feel like there is something inappropriate going on between this adult and a minor. I find the whole thing creepy.
Anyhow Gryffen’s weird plot device generator randomly turns on and brings another alien through.  This time it is a green demon looking thing called The Korven. It takes Gryffen out of his house (for the first time in a decade apparently) and wants to suck out his brain (and as Darius puts it, the Prof would just be LOST without his brain).  The kids are worried when he has disappeared, but then an Exposition Being beams his face into the plot device generator and tells the kids that the Korven wants to eat his brain and will go somewhere cold.

This episode also shows us that Starkey is homeless and eating cans of beans with K9. This show is…so weird.  They have a homeless kid trying to overthrow the government. A girl who wants to help but her mom also works for the evil government and is firmly the bad guy of episode 2…and then we have this scene where Jorjie and her mom are having a classic mom and daughter chat.  There’s no conflict in this relationship, and there probably should be. I mean the girl tried to overthrow her mom, and her mom was just like “weird...moving on” Then you have the creepy Darius/Gryffen relationship undertones…and how all of these kids seem like they are just adults being played by teens…what is this show?

It doesn’t help matters that every episode seems to end with “the only thing that can possibly save us is K9 but, alas, he is low on energy! Oh look he somehow managed to do it after all!”
