Goodbye Romana

Story: Warriors' Gate
Written By: Steve Gallagher
Length: 4 Episodes
Year: 1981

The final story of both Romana and K-9, as well as the end to the E-Space Trilogy. Its decent, but rather forgettable too. I remember little from it, but I don't remember hating it.
Ward knew Baker was leaving at the end of the season, and both were having a miserable time getting used to not playing the show for laughs. So she decided to bow out now. Probably a good move. John Nathan-Turner felt the idea of the robot dog was too silly and decided to have him spend most of the season out for the count anyhow, so sending him off with Romana as she decides to remain in E-Space seemed like a good idea.

At the end of the story the Doctor is heading home to N-Space with Adric and company, when the Time Lords call Romana home, she decides to stay in E-Space instead, and the Doctor gives her K-9 as a gift...and a chore because she has to fix him. Its a decent end for their goodbyes, but it is all underperformed a little too much. Baker and Ward really didn't give it all this season.

So goodbye Miss Ward, hello ending tales of Tom Baker

NEXT TIME: Tremas
