This is actually a pretty good story. Season 18 is often pretty lame due to lackluster performances brought in by Baker and Ward, as well as the introduction of the ever annoying Adric in the previous story. But this serial manages to win me over despite all that.
Former script editor Terrance Dicks returns to the show to give us a dark tale about Vampires. The tone is dark, and the lighting actually is occasionally in this story, which is a rarity in the 1980s. Usually I'm not a huge fan of stories based on vampires and werewolves...but this is pretty good, in much the same way "The Brain of Morbius" was a decent Doctor Who version of Frankenstein, this does the same for Vampire tales.
