Wounded Time

Story: Father's Day

Length: 45 Minutes

This is a great episode. It is one of the few stories in Doctor Who that actually deals with the effects of time travel…which is really weird considering it’s a show about a guy TRAVELLING THROUGH TIME. Anyhow, the Doctor takes Rose to see her father, who had died when she was just a baby…she gets a look at him, but its not a enough…and the Doctor takes her to see him die, and sit with him so he doesn’t die alone in the street after he is hit by a hit-and-run driver. The Doctor knows it’s risky…but he thinks he can trust Rose…and he goes for it. She freaks out and fucks it up though. So she asks for a second try. This is where the Doctor should have known better. But I think it makes sense that he goes for it…he’s been alone too long, and right now he wants to help out that one person that has helped him lighten up a bit.
So she does exactly what she shouldn’t do. She saves him. The Doctor is PISSED. But the results are super detrimental, and bring in these reapers. The Doctor knows what he is doing, she doesn’t. Simple as that. The reapers kill people, eat up the fucked up time line, and eventually Rose’s Dad puts two and two together, figures out who she is, who he is to her, and that he should be dead as a doornail. So he sacrifices himself, for the good of the world…and all goes back to rights. It’s really no fun reading about, it’s a rather emotional episode. And it hits emotional levels unheard of in the original series.
