Story: Planet of Fire
Written By: Peter Grimwade
Length: 4 Episodes
Year: 1984
This is the final serial with Turlough, as he leaves in the end. It also marks the debut of Peri, a companion that jump starts many a fanboys engine. She doesn't really do it for me, she isn't quite my taste, but she is definitely a looker. Unfortunately that is all she's got. The actress is British, but JNT wanted her to be American, which was a terrible idea...for the companion should relate to the audience...and the audience is mostly British. As an American, the fact that her accent is so GOD AWFUL, makes it even harder to like her. Things will only get worse when Colin Baker arrives on the scene.
The story itself is pretty good once it gets going, but it does take a bit too long to get there. We do see the return of Kamelion though, who has apparently been hiding in the midst of the TARDIS somewhere. They get the robot portions to work just long enough before he disguises himself as a human.
The Master shows up, and at the end he supposedly dies, but of course they didn't really pay attention to what they were writing anyhow so.....he comes back later.
