The Seventh Augmentment

Story: The Two Doctors
Written By: Robert Holmes
Length: 3 Episodes
Year: 1985

Even when a classic and favorite writer returns this season things go bad. Even when a fantastic Doctor makes a guest appearance things go bad!
Patrick Troughton returns with Frazer Hines returning as Jamie. Unfortunately the one three part story isn't all that good beyond the goodness of seeing Pat again, and he is old, and so is Robert Holmes, who wasn't delivering his best work at this point.

The weird red head cannibal alien that turns Troughton into one just makes you feel weird. Its all bad. And the Sontarans are wasted in the story. Its unfortunate that this is the last time we get to see Patrick Troughton in the role. Its a bad story to go out on.

The story also creates weird continuity issues for the Second Doctor, as his appearance in this story does not make it clear when he was supposed to take place in his timeline, and the fact that Troughton just looks years older than he was when he was actually on the show doesn't help.

NEXT TIME: Fun with H.G. Wells
