Spock

Story: The Empty Child
Written By: Steven Moffat
Length: 45 Minutes
Year: 2005

Of the first series, this is my favorite story. Steven Moffat, a man destined to run Who someday, makes his first true and proper Doctor Who episode own. He had previously created the parody charity special: Curse of the Fatal Death. I actually have a bootleg copy of that, with a making of Documentary. Steven Moffat says in the documentary, and I'm paraphrasing here, "I'd love to write for proper Who someday, but it doesn't look to likely." This is his chance. And he does splendid.
It has it all. World War II England, companions in sticky situations, creepy child monster in a gas mask, the Doctor on the case, and a mysterious guy named Captain Jack Harkness. Dr. Constantine is also a very good character with a great scene.

The story is dark, its thrilling, its scary, its fun, and hysterical. It hits so many different notes and all so seamlessly. The cliffhanger is a classic zombie like monsters cornering our heroes and a cut to credits.

NEXT TIME: Jamie
