The Colony of Devils

Story: Fury From the Deep
Written By: Victor Pemberton
Length: 6 Episodes
Year: 1968

There were far too many 6-parters in Season 5. Almost all of them have a useless episode or two, that just screams padding. With recons, the padding is even more noticeable. "Fury From the Deep" is another episode I would really like to see in some format other than telesnap recons. The sonic screwdriver makes its first appearance in Episode 1, though it is missing.
There are a few moments that exist, like the final battle with the monster, if I'm remembering correctly there is footage of this that exists...or like a few tiny moments in the battle that were repeated over and over. You'd have to see the recon to have any idea what I'm talking about.

The most notable moment of this episode is the departure of Victoria Waterfield from the TARDIS. Throughout the story she is really tiring of always landing into trouble, going on adventures, and more often than not, being locked up. I think the end for Victoria is very very believable, from her second story on it was always clear to me that the life in the TARDIS was not for her. She was a simple girl from the Victorian age, she wasn't looking for adventure. Thats a major difference between her and Jamie, Jamie rather enjoys the adventure, she does not. So she comes to her decision, to lead a quiet life. It makes sense, and her goodbye is sad, its a shame its missing.

The last moment features the TARDIS shooting off like a rocket. I don't know if the actual footage existed or if it was fan created for the recon, but it was a neat little moment.
