"The Ice Warriors" are another classic Who monster, not my favorite, but a lot of people love them. The serial itself is entertaining. It was nice to see a story that had more complete episodes than lost ones. Episodes 4 and 5 are missing, but the other four are still intact. The visuals are pretty good...snow looks good in black and white.
This story was recently released on DVD with the two missing episodes animated. I recently rewatched the story with these animations, and I must say it holds up. The Ice Warriors themselves don't really improve, but they are in such a solid adventure it's hard to dislike them that much. The animation isn't as good as other recently animated missing Doctor Who episodes, but it's better than nothing.
Overall Troughton is great, companionshave some good moments, and the story works. A pretty good serial, considering I'm not personally a great fan of the Ice Warriors (they look super cheap and their voices annoy me) this is a pretty glowing review.
