Story: The Mind Robber
Written By: Peter Ling
Length: 5 Episodes
Year: 1968
This is a good story. To escape a volcanic eruption at the end of the previous story, the TARDIS is taken out of normal time and space, and as a result explodes. The Crew is then tranported to the Land of Fiction, controlled by the Master (not THE Master, but A Master), who is a writer trapped in the Land of Fiction by the Master Brain computer...he wants out, and the Doctor to take his place.
This story is weird but fun. Even weirder is that Frazer Hines became sick and couldn't film part of the story, so Jamie is briefly played by a real Scottish actor...its written into the story that his face is changed due to some weird game in the Land of Fiction. The story is somewhat similar to the "The Celestial Toymaker", only instead of deadly games, its more that our heroes are trapped in cliche genre settings.
It's an enjoyable story, and thank god it isn't missing.
