Doctor Who: Season Seven Recap

As each story in Season 7 is watchable and enjoyable, I would say this is one successful season. My main complaint is the padding. If they added one or two more stories, instead of stretching three stories out to 7 episodes, i think each story would have benefited more. But alas, it is better to have for solid stories with a little padding, than 2 extra bad stories with less padding.

Overall I would say this is a good start for Pertwee, who is my favorite Doctor. The Brigadier, Sgt. Benton, and UNIT are all great. Liz Shaw is the weak link, and I don't believe it is Caroline John's fault, as she was rather good as the bad Liz in the parallel universe. The actress has said that it was more fun to play her as bad, and that the good Liz was boring. She's right. She is boring. I think the writers wanted the scientist angle at first, and soon realized that she wasn't working and they didn't know what to do with her. Being intelligent she doesn't need to ask the Doctor as many questions...and really the audience needs her to. So she makes her last appearence in Inferno, and is only referred to off-screen as having left at the beginning of Season 8.

Season 8 is so much better, and it introduces some great characters and elements to Doctor Who.
