"Mission to the Unknown" is essentially a 25 minute trailer for the upcoming epic serial, "The Daleks' Master Plan". The story is pretty good considering that neither The Doctor or his companions appear. It involves these space travelers trapped on this planet with the Daleks. It is all a little hint of things to come, later in the season, and it certainly does a decent job of leaving you wanting to know more. Sadly, the actual episode is another victim of the junking, and Season 3 is hit pretty bad by it.
If you can find a reconstruction of the episode, or a fan animation, its worth a look, as it is a rather bold episode, leaving out the Doctor and his TARDIS crew, and basically giving some set up for one of the show's biggest and boldest serials.
