Story: Planet of the Daleks
Written By: Terry Nation
Length: 6 Episodes
Year: 1973
"Planet of the Daleks" is the first good Dalek story since "Evil of the Daleks". It features the Doctor and Jo teaming up with rebel Thals to take down a huge load of Daleks that are slowly waking from hibernation. Theres some good sets and plot here, but it does drag occasinally, standard for a 6 parter. Overall I enjoyed watching this though, more so than the last Dalek story.
When I watched this story, Episode 3 was in Black and White, due to the old junking policy. Luckily, I have now seen this story fully restored in color. The work of the Doctor Who Restoration team should be applauded, they have done stellar work that most classic shows just don't get.
Anyhow, this is a decent Dalek story, but it still isn't the best. I think after Evil, the really great Dalek stories were few and far between, with Genesis and Resurrection being the two truly great ones.
NEXT TIME: The Maggots of Death!
