"Planet of Giants" is not a remarkable start to the second season, but its fun. A malfunction in the TARDIS causes the crew to finally return to contemporary Earth, but unfortunately Ian and Barbara are unable to return home, as they are actually minuscule in size. Oh what fun. Tiny TARDIS. Its rather silly, but it doesn't really take itself too seriously, and it is only 3 episodes, so it doesn't overstay its welcome.
It is a little bit of fun, it doesn't start the second series off with a bang, but it was a goofy premise played out fairly well for the early days of this series. I've seen plenty of bad episodes of sci-fi that use the tiny people premise, this one really isn't too bad.
