This story feels a lot like the kind of saturday morning kids show I used to watch. Has a kind of Power Rangers tone to it. Clearly geared towards kids, but acts grown up enough that you can enjoy it.
The plot is sort essentially using Laser Tag to round up warriors for a real war. This is the kind of stuff that a kids version of Doctor Who should be doing. I can't see it working in the Parent series, but for some reason it works really well in this environment... and still feels like we are in the Doctor Who universe. Very well done.
