Story: Turn Left
Written By: Russell T. Davies
Length: 50 Minutes
Year: 2008
Doctor Lite but Donna heavy, a reverse of the previous week’s episode. "Turn Left" is a great story about one little change in Donna’s life that creates a parallel world, in which the Doctor’s dead and the world falls apart. By the end of the episode if you are still a Catherine Tate naysayer…then you did not watch this episode.
Her performance is through the roof fantastic. The supporting cast of Donna’s mother and grandfather are also over-the-top crazy good. Rose shows up from the parallel world, as the walls of reality are breaking down, and she helps Donna go back and fix what once went wrong…Bakula style. So Donna quantum leaps back to before all the shit hit the fan, and has to stop herself from turning right, she must turn left.
Unfortunately she’s too far away to go up and argue with herself…so she does something far more brave, she jumps in front a truck and dies. Causing traffic to build up, and Past-Donna to turn left. Brilliant. Then the best part – Rose appears and tells her two words to tell the Doctor.
The end when Donna tells the Doctor Bad Wolf is so thrilling you can’t help but smile. You are ready for some epic Who next week.
