Story: Torchwoood: A Day in the Death
Written By: Joseph Lidster
Length: 50 Minutes
Year: 2008
Owen is the living dead, and now he has to deal with it. This is the conclusion to the three episode arc that started with Reset and continued in Dead Man Walking. It also marks the last appearance of Martha Jones until she returned to Doctor Who in Series 4. Burn Gorman gives a knock out performance in these episodes, his best efforts being given here.
The plot is secondary to the character development. We've been blessed to get so much more character development this series, as opposed to that first series that focused so much on its silly plots. This is what they must've meant by an Adult Doctor Who. Adult themes such as life and death, and what it all means in the end. It can be dark and dramatic, unlike Doctor Who which is geared more towards a family audience. Finally the show stops using Adult in the pornographic sense...and they've matured into real stories.
I don't know what really happened to the writers of the second series, but man...I'm glad they got their shit together.
