Everybody is back! Martha, Captain Jack, Sarah Jane, Wilfred, Sylvia, Mickey, Jackie, Rose….the Scooby gang is all here…and not much gets to happen. Really it’s all set up. There’s a lot of set up, and too many cast members to reintroduce to make it all work properly. But the first episode still makes you think that it will work out well in the finale.
The Daleks have invaded Earth, this time with another foe from the Doctor’s past returning…Davros. Yeah the overused too often creator of the Daleks is brought back once again…but at least he is cool again. And at least the Daleks, who have been over used since Series 1 at this point, at least they aren’t nearly as annoying and poorly conceived as they were when they took Manhattan. Dalek Caan is here though, apparently he gone crazy.
So the episode is nearing its end, and Rose and the Doctor finally get to see each other…and in an awful cheesy running scene…a Dalek decides he hates cliché movie moments…and pops a cap in the Doctor’s ass. The episode ends with the Doctor beginning to regenerate, which I can tell you as a viewer watching the episode the day it came out…I flipped the fuck out about this.
