For the Love of Clom

Story: The Sarah Jane Adventures: Revenge of the Slitheen
Written By: Gareth Roberts
Length: 2 Episodes
Year: 2007

So the actual first series of this show begins. They've now adopted a 2-part 25 minute format, which works perfectly for this series. They even bring back Doctor Who monsters, the Slitheen to kick things off. And you know what? The Slitheen fit perfectly into the Sarah Jane Adventures, more so than they ever did in Doctor Who. This is a pretty solid start to the series.
The other big change is that we get a new main character, Clyde Langer. Clyde is perfectly performed all around. He is brave, street smart, and funny. He can be the comic relief at one moment, and the brave fighter the next...and it never seems out of character.

So I would say that while I still find Maria to be a bit grating at times, and the show is still catering to much to kids (which I find is always a bad plan, because kids don't want to watch things that remind them they are children, they want to be big kids...adults, treat that way they will watch)...at this point I'd say the show is slowly beginning to take shape, much more so than I remember Torchwood taking shape...that took far too long.

NEXT TIME: Phantom Nun
